Postpartum recovery is a challenging time, and you will need some postpartum care essentials to help you along your journey to recovery.

Here is our list of what you need for postpartum:

  • Maternity pads:

Maternity pads are one of the most important things you need on your postpartum journey. For the early days after the birth of your baby, you will need to use the largest pads you can find. You'll need enough pads for up to six weeks, but you can usually go back to regular pads after the first few days.

  • Postpartum Sitz bath soak:

One of the best things you can do for yourself to promote healing after the birth of your baby is a healing postpartum sitz bath. Use the healing sitz bath soak to clean, soothe and promote healing after birth.

  • Peri Bottle:

A peri bottle is an important essential for use after a natural birth. Use the peri bottle to clean yourself after birth, and use it to put water over yourself while going to the toilet in the early days after birth.

  • Belly Oil:

You might think that the days of using belly oil are over, but belly oil is also great in postpartum. Belly oil is great for continuing to use on any stretch marks, and is also great for scar massage if you had a cesarean

  • Nursing balm for breastfeeding:

If you're breastfeeding, a good nursing balm is an absolute essential during your postpartum period. This helps soothe sore and dry nipples which are common in the early days of breastfeeding.

  • Hot and cold reusable gel packs for breastfeeding:

Many people have heard of hydrogel breast discs, but what I think is even better, is the hot and cold reusable gel packs that we stock. These are perfect to put in the freezer to provide relief from engorgement and sore breasts in the early days of breastfeeding, and also for heating up when you need relief from blocked milk ducts or mastitis.

  • Nursing Pads:

I like reusable nursing pads, such as these. Buy lots of packs of them, and change them regularly. These protect your clothing while you are breastfeeding, and protect yourself from the effects of sitting with wet clothing around your breasts. Also, importantly they help deal with leaking breasts that can be embarrassing and uncomfortable.
